Event Details
Now that "we" are all back from SXSW we close March with a Microsoft Finalist BizSpark Accelerator Finalist, GoTryItOn.com. While the iron is hot from their recent press coverage on Tech Crunch, Marissa Evans presents GoTryItOn.com and looks to get feedback on strategic partnerships, new functionality, and monetization.
Overview
GoTryItOn.com is a social retailing site which allows users the ability to upload photos of themselves and get honest opinions on their look before they go out!
Guests can ask the community, just share with their friends... or eventually, ask a brand. We realize that getting guests feedback on their look as soon as possible is an essential part of helping them out, so we are working to make feedback as real time as possible! We launched in early March while coming out of SXSW we received press coverage on Tech Crunch.
Discussion Points
Engaging Brands: Working with apparel brands to get them onto "gotryiton" the same way they have twitter accounts. We want to help brands engage with users who are looking for advice and feedback about their look, and give them the perfect opportunity to up-sell users about the latest looks in their own collections.
Functionality: We want to continue to add features and functionality to the site to make the experience as good as possible for the user while balancing the simplistic nature of the site. Some features we’d like to add in the future include:
Outfit tagging (guests can view links to where others bought clothes) Video… GTIO ideally would become an experience where people could live stream videos to the site and similar to IM chat on Facebook, users could see who else is online and “ask their opinion” right away. Are there other things that come to mind? Monetization: We’ve come up with some sponsorship ideas but are always looking to be creative about other ways to monetize. Are there models out there that you have seen that may work for a service like GoTryitOn.com
Bio

Marissa’ received her MBA from Harvard Business School and her undergraduate degree from Cornell University. Her past experiences include a combination of working for corporate giants, such as Digitas and small entrepreneurs, as well as running her previous company, www.ashirtthing.com.
